Österreichisch-Weiß
The white variety is a descendant of the ancient variety Heunisch from a cross with an unknown parent species. Synonyms Austriai (Hungary), bare Kahlenberger whites and whites. Because they were often very similar, with brown Veltliner confused. Probably by a spontaneous crossing Austro-White x Traminer it has developed into the kind of Silvaner . The species was already in the early 19th Century in the wine around the Vienna Kahlenberg very widespread, for example, in Grinzing , Heiligenstadt, Klosterneuburg , Nussdorf and Weidling. It has established the reputation of the popular wine tavern wine "Grinzing" (up to 90% of Austrian and white, the rest Traminer). The vine is no longer in the catalog, but may be grown on existing farmland. It provides a yellow-green, strong and acid-stressed wine. Small stocks are still there, for example, in Klosterneuburg Viticulture Institute .
