The small appellation located around the city Boën-sur-Lignon on the upper reaches of the Loire in central France. It was 1955 and 2001 VDQS classified as AC. The vineyards cover 200 hectares in 21 municipalities. The dry white and rosé wines are produced from Gamay varietal purity (similar to Beaujolais).
