DOC for a wide range of red, rosé and white wines in the Italian region (island) Sicily . With approximately 20,000 hectares of vineyards, this is by far the largest DOC area of ​​the island. The zone includes the entire eponymous municipality Alcamo and parts of the communities Calatafimi, Castellammare del Golfo and Gibellina in the province of Trapani, and sections of the community Balestrate, Camporeale and Monreale, Partinico, San Cipirello and San Giuseppe Jato in the province of Palermo. The varietal types must contain at least 85% of each variety, the rest can be approved varieties of the same color. These are Ansonica or Inzolia, Cabernet Sauvignon, Calabrese, or Nero d'Avola, Chardonnay, Grecanico, Grillo, Merlot, Müller-Thurgau, Sauvignon and Syrah.

The Bianco (also known as sparkling wine) is made Catarratto (60-100%), in any use of Ansonica, Chardonnay, Grecanico, Grillo, Insolia and Muller-Thurgau (40%), and any other approved varieties (up to 20%) blended. The Vendemmia Tardiva (late harvest) is generated in the same mixture of late-harvested, partially dried grapes in Secco and Dolce. The white Classico is produced from Catarratto Bianco Comune and / or Catarratto Bianco Lucido (80-100%), and any other approved. Rosso (also called Novello) and Rosato (as sparkling wine) are from Calabrese, or Nero d'Avola (60-100%) in any mixture of Cabernet Sauvignon, Frappato, Merlot, Syrah and Perricone (40%), and any others pressed approved. The Rosso may be two years of aging and alcohol with 12% alcohol, reserve call.
