The most important grape varieties
DOC for sweet red wine in the Italian region Lazio . The area includes the municipalities of Gradoli, Grotte di Castro, Latera (in part) and San Lorenzo Nuovo in the province of Viterbo. The vineyards are situated on volcanic slopes of the northwestern shore of Lake Bolsena. The purple and spicy red wine is produced from the sorted Aleatico. The fortified versions Liquoroso (6 months aging) and Liquroso Riserva (2 years age) must have at least 17.5 vol alcohol.
