Amynteon
The appeal (or even Amyndeo Amyntaion) lies to the east of the prefecture of Florina region in Macedonia . It is named after the city. It is the northernmost wine-growing area of Greece . The vineyards cover 750 hectares in an area with 40 Kilomter length and 5 to 20 miles wide at an altitude 570-750 meters. About 50% are between the Petres and the Vegoritida Lake. The many lakes in the region play an important role for the micro-climate that is particularly favorable for viticulture. The OPAP reds and novelty as well as Greek OPAP rose wines and rosé sparkling wines from the only approved variety Xynomavro (here Mavro Naoussis) pressed. The white wines produced white wine (Blanc de noirs) are marketed as Topikos Oinos (country wines). Well-known producers are Alpha Estate , Amynteon Cooperative Winery , Hatzis, Kir Yianni and Pavlou Winery .
