The wines

Time and again this producer presents rather varying quality, although occasionally there are excellent wines in the range too. Unfortunately the corks used are of such poor quality that we have a suspicion the variances may be mainly ascribed to the corks.

Mature nose, pomaceous fruit, yeasty traces, light vegetal and prominent nutty notes. Fairly mature again on the palate, partly candied apple fruit, nutty notes, lively mousse, delicately sweetish and creamy, slightly persistent, light tannic touch, already slightly past its peak, slightly rustic, but still pleasant to drink, good to very good finish.

2008-05-27 (84): Cried apples on the nose, nutty and light yeasty notes, hint of tobacco. Fruity and tart nutty notes on the palate, delicate oak and some yeasty notes, quite a fine mousse, fairly persistent, pencil lead and some tobacco, good finish.

Fairly mature nose, prominent yeasty notes, apples and some citrus fruit, vegetal and mineral notes. Clear, elegant and juicy fruit on the palate, yeasty and vegetal notes, very fine mousse, slightly creamy with good persistence, delicate spice, mineral traces, very harmonious, hint of dried fruit, quite complex and in excellent condition, very good finish.

2007-05-29 (86): Fairly mature nose with dried fruit, yeasty notes and old oak. More yeasty notes and dried fruit on the palate, has some character and also clearly shows its origins, moderate, delicately creamy mousse, slightly bitter notes, distinctive and rather complicated style, has some substance, attractive to good finish.

Mature nose, preserved and partly dried red berries and plums, sweetish spice, cloves, light roasted and spicy notes. Mature fruit on the palate, too, prominent oak, sweetish spice, cloves, partly mature, partly slightly astringent tannins, sugar candy, not particularly deep, slightly rustic style, good finish.

Mature nose, preserved red berries, some blackberries and cherries, quite oaky, some lovage and other soup greens. Mature on the palate, quite juicy, prominent spicy oak, predominantly mature tannins, delicate acid bite, very slightly sweetish and creamy, sweetish spice and some more lovage, hint of brandy, attractive finish.

Youthful nose, slightly reductive, red berries and light vegetal notes. More red berries on the palate, elegant and juicy, pleasant to drink, vegetal and earthy notes, not particularly deep, medium-fine tannins, very slightly astringent, delicate spice on an attractive finish.

Medicinal nose, dried berries, anise, muscat flowers, resin and medicinal herbs. Dried herbs on the palate,mallow and some licorice, also partly dried stone fruit, integrated acidity, individualistic and not particularly typical of the varietal, but clearly shows its origins, has some substance, herbaceous again on an attractive finish.

Red berries and pomaceous fruit on the nose, yeasty and light nutty notes. Clear, straightforward style, elegant, juicy fruit on the palate, harmonious, fine mousse, light nutty and yeasty notes again, fairly persistent, very well balanced, delicate spice on a good finish.

2008-05-27 (85): Preserved red berries and some ripe pomaceous fruit on the nose, floral traces. Partly dried fruit on the palate, elegant spice, medium-fine mousse, hint of tobacco, some smoky notes, nougat in the background, good persistence, spicy nougat and dried fruit on a good finish.

Open nose with dried fruit, fruit marinated in rum, dried herbs, spicy and slightly oxidative. More dried fruit on the palate, slightly ssweetish cocoa, red berries and herbs, hint of oak, spicy notes and cinnamon, not a lot of substance, hint of tannin, raisins and eathy notes on an attractive finish. Quite typical for the region.

Lots of fresh mint on the nose, behind this some stone and pomaceous fruit. Minty taste, delicate fruit and elegant acidity, herbs and spices on the palate, not a lot of substance, but is well balanced and pleasant to drink, attractive finish.
