The white variety is a new breed between ( Silvaner x Riesling ) x Müller-Thurgau , which in 2012 published by DNA was confirmed. Synonyms are Early Scheurebe and Geilweilerhof 33-29-133. The crossing was made in 1933 by Peter Peter Morio (1887-1960) and Bernhard Husfeld Bernhard (1900-1970) at the Institute for Grapevine Breeding Geilweilerhof . in Siebeldingen-Palatinate The Plant Variety Protection has been granted in 1972. It is based on the eponymous, Roman god of wine Bacchus (god of wine) named. The early maturing, high yielding variety is hardly against chlorosis -prone. At low income it has a Riesling-similarity. The vine yields pale to greenish yellow rather low-acid white wines with a floral reminiscent of the Scheurebe Nutmeg , therefore it is called "Early Scheurebe". It is mostly used for blending with Müller-Thurgau. In Germany, the species occupied in 2009, nearly 2,000 hectares. But the tendency is falling fast, because ten years ago the figure was 3,000. Smaller stocks are also in Austria, Czech Republic, England and Switzerland. The species was crossing partner in the new breeds Birstaler nutmeg , Phoenix , Sirius and Staufer .
