The appellation is named after the village and is part of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy Côte d'Or . The municipal area includes each about half to two neighboring communities. Of the 54 hectares of vineyards are only seven for red wines under the AC Blagny defined, which are produced from Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Liebault shares. An alternative name is AC-Blagny Côte de Beaune. There are six Premier Crus. The rest of the vineyard is planted with Chardonnay. White wines of these (depending on where the two communities, they are) as Premier Cru Meursault or Montrachet markets.
