The appeal lies in the wine growing region of the Loire at the upper reaches of the river. The former VDQS area was classified in 2009 as an AOP. The vineyards cover 410 hectares in 53 municipalities. There are five sub-areas to attach Boudes, Chanturgue, Châteaugay, Corent Madargues and whose names may not privileged communities. The red and rose wines make up two thirds of production and are vinified primarily from the Gamay with Pinot Noir shares. The white wines are produced from Chardonnay. Well-known producers are Bourcheix, Pradier, and Persilier Prugnard.
