The small appellation in the French wine-growing region Law applies only to the Vin Jaune . It covers 45 hectares of vineyards in the town named after a monastery Château-Chalon and in three neighboring communities. This monastery was reportedly the Vin Jaune "invented". Among the aristocratic lovers of wine from this area included king Henry IV Queen Juliana of the Netherlands (1909-2004) and the last Russian Tsar Nicholas II (1868-1918). The unusual soil consists of black limestone and marl. A commission shall annually review the quality of the grapes. In bad years, the appellation is not used, as this was when the vintages 1974, 1980, 1984 and 2001 of the case. The spicy wines from Château-Chalon are among the best Vin jaunes the four appellations, where this wine is produced. The most far Exceeded potential alcohol content of 12 vol% required a little higher than in other areas. There are only about 50,000 bottles annually produced. Domaine Berthet-known producers are Bondet, Bourdy Jean Philippe Butin, Daniel et Pascal Chalandard, Franck Guigneret, Domaine Jean and Domaine de la Pinte Macle.
