Named after the city of the same appellation in the French wine-growing region of the Loire at the upper reaches of the river. The former VDQS area was classified in 2010 as an AOP. During construction work in the 19 Century were found here including almost 300 amphora dating from the first Century BC. They also were determined for the transportation of Italian wine. The vineyards cover 100 hectares of vineyards in the communes Champillet, Feusines, Néret, Reigny, Saint-Maur, and Vesdun Urciers in the department of Cher. There are mainly produced red and rosé wines from the Pinot varieties Gamay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. A local specialty is the Vin gris That is produced without maceration from the Gamay grape.
