The appellation is an enclave in the AC Languedoc (appellation) in the same wine region Languedoc . The vineyards cover about 110 hectares in eight municipalities in the department of Herault . The dry to medium dry white wine is made from upgraded Clairette Blanche. There is also a fortified version. The AC Clairette du Languedoc Rancio applies for a wine that is aged at least three years in sealed drums. Thereof there is also a fortified version. Well-known producers are La Clairette d'Adissan, Domaine d'Aubepierre, de CV and Château de la Condamine Cabrières-Bertrand.
