DOC for a wide range of red, rosé and white wines in the Italian region (island) Sicily . The zone includes the eponymous village of Contessa Entellina in the province of Palermo. The varietal wines are made from at least 85% of each variety, the rest must be approved varieties of the same color. The varietal types are Ansonica Inzolia or (as in Vendemmia Tardiva Abboccato, Amabile and Dolce), Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Grecanico, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon. The Bianco is from Ansonica (50-100%) in any mixture of Catarratto Bianco Lucido, Chardonnay, Grecanico Dorato, Grillo, Muller-Thurgau, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon (50%), and other approved varieties (up to 15%) blended. Rosso and Rosato are from Calabrese = Nero d'Avola and / or Syrah (50-100%), and any other permitted red varieties (50%) were produced. All red wines (varietal types and Rosso) may be vol two years aging (including six months in the barrel) and 12% alcohol, reserve call.
