The most important grape varieties

The regional appellation created in 1975 for Crémant (sparkling wine by the Champagne method) applies to sparkling wines in the appellations Anjou , Cheverny , Saumur and Touraine are generated. In the region of the Loire , the first designated as Crémant sparkling wines produced under the old name Crémant de Saumur and Crémant de Vouvray. It may almost all be used on the Loire varieties permitted, except Blanc is Sauvignon. The most commonly used are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc is the dominant (also Pineau de la Loire), Grolleau (maximum 30%) and Pinot Noir. Are mainly white wines and rosé wines produced in small part also. There are approximately 200 producers of the most popular include Cray-Baumard, Berger, Bouvet Ladubay, Langlois Château, Delhumeau, Gratien , Nerleux, Oisly et Thésée and Passavant.
