DOC for dry red, rosé and white wines in the Italian region Umbria . The area includes 13 municipalities in the province of Terni, including the eponymous provincial capital. The Merlot varietal types (with 12.5% alcohol content as a reserve ) and Malvasia must contain at least 85% of each variety, the remaining 15% must be approved varieties of the same color. The Bianco is made from Trebbiano Toscano (70-85%) in any mixture Malvasia Toscana, Grechetto, Verdello and Garganega (30%, of which a maximum of 10% Malvasia), and other permitted white varieties (up to 15%) blended. Rosso (also called Novello) and are Rosato of Sangiovese (65-80%) in any mixture of Montepulciano, Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo, Merlot and Barbera (up to 35%, of which a maximum of 10% Merlot), and other permitted red varieties (up to 15 % produced). A Rosso with 12% alcohol content may be Superiore call.
