DOC for sweet dessert white wine in the Italian region (island) Sicily . The zone includes the town of Siracusa in the province. It is believed that wines from this region as well as the Moscato di Noto , the descendants of the legendary "Pollio di Siracusa" (named after a legendary ruler of Syracuse) and Pliny the Elder (23-79) as Haluntium antique wine are mentioned. This wine is one of the oldest wines of Sicily. The resident in Sicily German Hohenstaufen Emperor Frederick II (1194-1250) proffered him his regular guests. Even in the first half of the 20th Century, he was so well known and popular as the Marsala and the wines of the island belonging to Sicily Pantelleria . On the market today are getting more bottles, more than 150 years old and are in excellent condition and edible. Today, this wine is produced only by the Azienda Agricola Pupillo of half a hectare of vines. It is vinified grapes sorted out rosinierten Giallo Moscato (Moscato Bianco variety) and has an alcohol content of 16.5% vol.
