Faros
Brand name for a dry red wine, on the Croatia Island of Hvar by the large winery in Dalmacijavina Starigrad is marketed. The Greeks took as 600 BC the vineyards on the island and named at that time as Dimos founded Polis Pharos - today's Stari Grad - which derives its name. The production area is flat and sandy. The red wine is sorted from the indigenous Plavac Mali pressed. The winery produces a similar Vinarija Plancic wine called "Pharion".
