The community is located in the appellation of Côte de Nuits to the Côte d'Or and covers areas in the communities and Fixin Brochon. Fixin was once the summer residence of the Dukes of Burgundy . The individual layers Arvelets, Chapitre, Hervelets, Napoleon (formerly Cheusots) (does this monopoly situation in possession of Philippe Joliet as the best), Meix-Bas, Perriere and Queue de Hareng are classified as Premier Cru. It is produced almost exclusively red wines from Pinot Noir, with shares of Pinot Gris and Pinot Liebault.
