Winegrowers Association of the German wine-growing area in Franconia was founded in 1996 by 15 winery owners. The now 17 member companies manage a total of about 200 hectares of vineyards. The goal was to create a new wine style for the traditional Swiss franc, but less prestigious variety Müller-Thurgau to develop with fruity white wines for a young target group. In the meantime the "Frank & Frei Collection" was established. It consists of Müller-Thurgau in Bocksbeutel , varietal wines from Sylvaner, Riesling, Blanc in Bordeaux bottle, rosé and Rotling in the Bordeaux bottle, a white and a red blend of Bordeaux bottle and a sparkling wine called secco saignée (Pinot Noir, Muller-Thurgau, Scheurebe). These wines represent the member companies represent the basic range, the individuality of it remains, however. The quality of the wines in the group tested in several blind tastings before they are allowed to wear the Frank and open-label. There is a common marketing and presence at national and international exhibitions and presentations. The wines are exported to the USA, Holland, Belgium and Denmark.
