The most important grape varieties
DOC for a wide range of red, rosé and white wines in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia . The area includes the municipalities Bagnaria Arsa, Carlino, Castions di Strada, Marano, Muzzana del Turgnano, Porpetto, San Giorgio di Nogaro and Torviscosa in the province of Udine. The varietal wines must contain at least 90% of each variety, the remaining 10% can be approved varieties of the same color. These are the types of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Malvasia (Malvasia from Istriana), Merlot, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Refosco dal Rosso Peduncolo , Sauvignon, Tocai Friulano and Verduzzo Friulano.
The Bianco is in any use of Chardonnay, Malvasia Istriana, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Tocai Friulano and Verduzzo Friulano blended. Rosso (also called Novello) and Rosato are produced or used in any combination of Cabernet Dranc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Refosco. Some of these wines, there are also versions in sparkling wine and / or sparkling wine, and alcohol increased Superiore and longer bearing reserve . The wines are at least secco (dry) expanded, some in amabile (sweet) and dolce (sweet). Very similar types of wine are in the DOC zones , Friuli Grave , Friuli Isonzo and Friuli Latisana produced.
