Goldkaul
Single location in the village in the German region Dernau Ahr . The name means "gold mine" (Kaul = pit). The south to west-facing steep location in 125-260 above sea level is reported at 50 acres, of which only 18 hectares planted. The floors are made of mild to moderate slate with some greywacke and loam. In the shallower areas, there are sandy loam with gravel subsoil. Two-thirds of the Pinot Noir we cultivated here, and the varieties Blue Portugal, Dom, Dornfelder, Early Burgundy, Regent, Riesling and Müller Thurgau.
