The "Jean Stodden Rotweingut" is the computing community in the German region Ahr . The traditional family has been built in the Ahr valley in the 1578 grapes. In 1900, Alois began to press the grapes Pinot Noir Stodden his own. Today the estate is run by Gerhard Stodden, who is considered one of the best red wine producers in Germany. The responsibility for the Rebanlage Neuenahrer Sonnenberg Stoddens eldest son Alexander has taken over. The Pinot Noir "Next Generation" has already caused the first born in 2001 caused a sensation. The vineyard area totals 6,5 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Rosenthal (Ahrweiler) Castle Garden (single location, Germany) and Hardtberg (Dernau) Sonnenberg (Neuenahr) Mönchsberg (Mayschoss), and flower, and Hardtberg Herrenberg (Computing). You must be 85% Pinot Noir, Riesling with the rest, Frühburgunder, Dornfelder and dark fields planted. The red wines are matured for a minimum 16 months in new oak barrels and some large wooden barrels. It will also produce sparkling wines (Pinot Noir, Riesling) and brandies (yeast residue). The winery is since 2005 member of the VDP (Association of German VDP).

Clearly evident clean aromas of cherry preserves and berries, with elegant spicy oak and some chocolate notes. Wonderfully juicy fruit with fine-grained tannins and harmonious spicy oak, ripe, powerful style, minerals and slightly smoky notes on the palate, very concentrated and persistent, excellent balance, long fruity finish with toasty notes. Likely to even improve a bit given some time.

Intense, dense, quite cool nose with aromas of cherries and forest berries, with mineral notes and integrated spicy oak. Full-bodied fruit, at this stage dominated by the wood, quite juicy and firmly structured, fine-grained tannins just slightly dry, lots of power and depth, more mineral notes, smoky on the palate, on the finish mainly wood and smoke. Needs time to develop.

Delicate spicy oak, aromas of apples and melons with fresh herbal notes. Quite firm, elegantly juicy fruit, harmonious acidity and excellently integrated moderate oak aromas, mineral notes on the palate, surprisingly elegant style considering the 13,5% alcohol level, very persistent, excellent length. By far the best wine of this type I have tasted so far in the Ahr region.

Juicy fruit, still strongly dominated by tart, toasted wood, decidedly cool style, quite fine-grained, very slightly sandy tannins, very good persistence, lacks the sweet fruit of a good vintage, but still an attractive wine, quite a long finish. Needs some time to mature.

Powerful and quite juicy, but currently strongly dominated by oak and by the dark, charred, roasted notes, tannins are ripe and evident, a bit dry, good persistence on the palate, lots of extract, roasted notes on the finish. Needs time.

Full-bodied fruit, initially very dry, spicy oak, medium-grained, evident tannins, has power and good structure, still young, good balance, shows some sweet fruit after aeration, the finish is tart and dominated by wood and tannins. Currently still very closed, will probably be rated much higher in three years' time.

Matt, deep garnet red, lighter on the rim. Appears closed, profound and very complex nose of red berries, with some black berries, plums as well as toasted spicy oak with a light medicinal touch. Concentrated "sweet" firm fruit, spicy oak, quite finely-grained, evident tannins, particularly powerful body, tremendous structure, very persistent on the palate, inviting aroma, full, deep and persistent, enormous length. This will be recognised in a few years time as one of the greatest red wines ever to have been made in Germany.

Full-bodied, juicy fruit, slightly dusty, tart but fully ripe tannin, quite a firm structure, spicy oak perfectly integrated on the palate, persistent aroma of cherries and red berries, excellent balance, good length. A classy wine.

Rounded, juicy fruit, full-bodied, very fine-grained tannins in the background, powerful body, very well structured, typical Burgundy aroma profile on the palate, quite persistent, excellent balance, fruity finish. Has style.
