Kastanienbusch
Single location in the village Birkweiler (Southern Wine Road area) in the German wine-growing area Palatine . The name derives from the numerous chestnut trees growing here that thrive in the mild climate well. The aligned south to southeast vineyards in 180 to 300 meters above sea level with 15 to 30% slope comprise 64 hectares of vineyards. They are protected to the west in the direction of the Palatinate Forest by a ridge against cold winds. The floors are made of red, weathered sandstone (Rotliegendes) intercalated with marl and shale. They have a low Water storage capacity . This Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir are grown. For example, the shares have wineries Dr. Wehrheim , Gies chaff , Ökonomierat Rebholz and Siener - Wettstein .
