The cooperative winery is situated in Bolzano in the area South Tyrol (Alto Adige) in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige . In 2001, she is by the merger of the winery Gries (founded 1908) and the cellar of St. Mary Magdalene (founded 1930) emerged. As managing director is Klaus savers, Butler, Stephan Filippi. The cultivated area is devoted almost 200 members is about 300 hectares in the steep slopes on the northern edge of St. Magdalene of the city and in alluvial deposits in the area in Bolzano Lagrein Gries. There are the white varieties Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Müller-Thurgau, and Silvaner Goldmuskateller, and the red varieties Vernatsch (Trollinger), Pinot Noir, Lagrein, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Moscato Rosa grown. The traditional form of education for South pergola (arbor) is almost exclusively reserved for the Vernatsch, all other varieties are more and more educated on wire frame (row). The broad product range includes three lines with base, selection and Riservaqualität. There are wines from the DOC areas Eisacktaler , Kalterersee , Santa Maddalena and South Tyrol produced. The premium wines include Alto Adige Lagrein Riserva "Taber" and Alto Adige Lagrein Gries Riserva "Prestige line". Every year about 2.5 million bottles of wine are bottled.

WineImg Firm nose with light animal notes, earthy and vegetal notes, black berries and preserved cherries, hint of dried flowers, tobacco and some cedar wood, blueberries, peppery traces and some mineral notes. Full-bodied and very juicy on the palate, ripe, polished, slightly jammy fruit, fine tannins, herbaceous notes, some sugar candy, persistent, creamy, quite full-bodied but also quite elegant, has some depth, hint of dried tomatoes, excellent balance, mineral notes in the background. Has developed very well.
2006-09-27 (85): Black berries and preserved cherries on the nose, licorice, some vanilla and light roasted oaky notes. Clean and polished in the mouth, ripe dark fruit, quite fine tannins, good use of toasty oak with prominent spice and vanilla, sweetish and creamy, not particularly deep, but very well made, good finish.

Tart, slightly smoky nose with some animal notes, sooty and toasted notes, ripe, partly dried black berries, dried herbs, a hint of tea, cedar wood, dried flowers and earthy notes. Firm and full-bodied on the palate. Firm and full-bodied on the palate, ripe, fairly juicy dark fruit, toasted oak with some candied nuts and dark chocolate, fairly fine and fairly prominent tannins, persistent, good grip, very full-bodied and creamy, but also has some cool elements, hint of eucalyptus, mineral traces, has some depth, juicy and spicy on a very good finish.
2011-10-17 (87): Preserved black berries, cherries and plums on the nose, vegetal notes with a hint of bell peppers, some dark chocolate, smoky, roasted notes. Full-bodied and juicy on the palate, fairly prominent toasted notes, more vegetal notes and bell peppers, fairly fine and fairly prominent tannins, very creamy with noticeable alcohol, cedary traces, fairly prominent acid bite, quite smooth and polished, good persistence, very good finish.
2008-04-14 (87): Preserved black berries and cherries on the nose, herbaceous notes, some roasted notes and spicy oak. Tart o nthe palate with spicy oak, cool fruity and light smoky notes, fine sandy and slightly astringent tannins, salty mineral notes, goor persistence, has some depth and body, still youthful, good long finish.

2008-10-02 (85+): Youthful, slightly restless nose, tart black berries and some cherries, vegetal notes. Quite a cool style, slightly tart dark fruit on the palate, noticeable roasted oak, fine sandy and slightly astringent tannins, fairly persistent, medium body, good finish. Needs some time to mature.

Has improved since discarding its reductive notes, but should be drunk soon.
