La Rioja Alta
The estate is located in the town of Haro in the center of Spain's Rioja Subbereiches Rioja . It was founded in 1890 by a group of five friends and families. The start was supported by the French enologist Alfonso Vigier. Initially, 33 were large loads of wood and 3,500 oak barrels from Bordeaux available. Then crossed to the turn of the century Phylloxera the Pyrenees and destroyed a large part of the vines. With the use of grafted vines and conversion to a large extent be bottled and exported to overseas began the successful era of the estate. In 1941 the company was transformed into a corporation, with some descendants of founding families still sit on the board. In 1996 a new winery was built in a neighboring town. The vineyards cover 450 hectares of vineyards in Briones, Cenicero, Fuenmayor, Labastida and Rodezno. There are also purchased grapes. The produced here in the classical style Riojas are among the best in the region. The philosophy is based on a relatively short, lasting only two weeks of maceration and removal of an unusually long time in barrel and bottle aging out. The flagship of the house is "Gran Reserva 890", which is 890 to the foundation year. This lavishly vinified and durable top-quality wine is produced only in the prime of life. It is composed of at least 85% Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo well blended. Then it is aged for six to eight years in American oak barrels and another six years in the bottle and is therefore marketed for at least 12 to 14 years. The second flagship product is "Gran Reserva 904" (produced in 1904 was the first time). Which also consists of at least 85% Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo blended wine is aged at least four years in oak barrels, and four years in the bottle. Other trademarks are "Vina Alberdi" (90% Tempranillo, Mazuelo), "Vina Arana Reserva" (90% Tempranillo, Graciano), "Vina Ardanza Reserva" (75% Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta).
