The most important grape varieties
DOC (also briefly Casorzo) for sweet red and rose wines in the Italian region Piedmont . The area includes the municipalities of Altavilla Monferrato, Olivola, Ottiglio and Vignale Monferrato in the province of Alessandria, and Casorzo, Grana and Grazzano in the province of Asti. Rosso and Rosato are made of Malvasia Nera di Casorzo (90-100%), and in any combination of Barbera, Moscato, Grignolino and other approved varieties (up to 10%) grapes. There is also a sparkling wine and a Passito produced.
