Quite frequent single layer name in Germany. In addition to the five described in detail below, there are situations that name in the communities Dertingen (Baden), Lonsheim (Rheinhessen), Neustadt on the Wine Route (Pfalz) and Offenheim (Rheinhessen). The origin of the name is not unique - there are at least three variants. Mandelberg may actually refer to the species or to the shape of the layer (annular). In a third variant, the designation may also be from Old High German "Mandar" the tree "pine" is derived. The latter would say that it was (previously) by a pine-capped mountain slope is (e).
