The wine company in the sub-area Spanish Rioja Rioja was founded in 1889 by Joaquin Martinez Bujanda with then-ten-acre vineyard. The modernly furnished by a high-tech winery replaced old bodega is now a wine museum. The vineyards in Rioja include a total of 480 hectares of vineyards that are planted mainly with Tempranillo Rioja-standard varieties, Mazuelo, Garnacha Tinta, Graciano and Viura, Malvasia, and Cabernet Sauvignon as well. The Rioja is produced in two different wineries and marketed under different labels. The newly opened in 1982, ordinary winery Bodegas Valdemar covers 400 hectares of vineyards in the sub-area Oyón Rioja Alava. For the expansion are 15 000 oak barrels available. In the cellars of mature 3.5 million bottles of wine. The wines (red, rosé and white) are marketed under the label "Conde de Valdemar." Other labels for the simpler wines are "Esencia Valdemar" and "Inspiracion Valdemar".
The vineyard Finca Valpiedra located in the town of Fuenmayor in the Rioja Alta sub-area. It is a member of the Producers Association "Grandes Pagos de España" (Spanish major single-vineyard wineries = related). It covers 80 hectares on a spectacular bend of the Ebro River. The newly built bodega was put in operation in 1999. For 4200 are the expansion of French oak barriques available. The red wine is aged 18 to 22 months in new oak barrels.
In 2003, after five years of planning and preparatory work next to the community of Los Hinojosos-Quintanar (Cuenca) in the DO La Mancha, a new winery called Finca Antigua opened. It covers 1,000 hectares of land, of which 420 are under vines. There are cultivated varieties Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. For the wine barriques 5000 expansion are available.
