The most important grape varieties
The local appellation, with around 100 hectares of vineyards in the Burgundy area of Côte Chalonnaise includes the municipalities Bourgneuf-Val-d'Or, Mercurey and Saint-Martin-sous-Montaigu. To 90% storable reds from Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, with shares of Pinor Liebault are pressed, the white wines are produced from Chardonnay with proportions of Pinot Blanc. There are nearly 30 Premiers Crus, the most important are Bondue, Byots, Cailloute, Champs Martin, Château Clos de Montaigu, Furneaux, Levriere, Marcilly, mission, Montaigus, Naugues, petits Voyens, and ruelles Vasées. Well-known producers are Bichot (Domaine Adélie), Brintet, Chandesais, Emile Juillot, and Narjoux Raquillet.
