DOC to a wide range of dry reds and whites in the Italian region Veneto . The zone includes the eponymous Merlara other municipalities in the provinces of Padua and Verona. The varietal wines must be produced from at least 85% of each variety, the rest must be approved varieties of the same color. The varietal types are Malvasia (Malvasia from Istriana), Friulian Tocai, Cabernet (Cabernet Franc and / or Cabernet Sauvignon), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sparkling Marzemino. The Bianco is made from Tocai Friulano (50-70%) and other permitted white varieties. The Rosso is produced from Merlot (50-70%), and in any combination of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Marzemino (50%).
