The white variety is a new breed between Seyve Villard 5276 (Seyval Blanc) x (Riesling x Pinot Gris). The crossing was made in 1960 by Dr. John John Zimmerman (1907-1998) at the National Institute of Viticulture Freiburg (Germany) (Baden-Wuerttemberg). The name derives from the borough Merzhausen from Freiburg, where the resident of the Merzhauserstrasse Institute owns several vineyards. The early-maturing, high yielding grape is resistant to spring frost, highly resistant to both mildew and the inclination to stem necrosis and Coulure is very low. It was planted in 2009 in Germany on four hectares of vines. The variety yields greenish-yellow colored white wine with a fruity bouquet, which are similar to the Muller-Thurgau. She was crossing a partner in the three new breeds Bronner (Variety) , Helios and Solaris .
