The most important grape varieties
DOC for red, rosé and white wines in the southern Italian region of Tuscany in the countryside Maremma . The area includes the municipalities of Massa Marittima and Monterotondo Marittimo, and parts of municipalities Castiglione, Follonica Gavorrano Scarlino and Roccastrada in the province of Grosseto. The Vermentino varietal must contain at least 90% of that sort. Rosso (also known as Novello and Reserve) and Rosato are vinified from Sangiovese (80-100%), and other permitted red varieties (each up 10% to 20% overall). The Bianco is made from Trebbiano Toscano (50-100%) in any mixture of Ansonica, Malvasia Bianca, Malvasia Bianca di Candia and Vermentino (30%), and other permitted white varieties (up to 30%) grapes. A white Vin Santo (in Secco and Amabile and as a Reserve) is made from Trebbiano Toscano and / or Malvasia (70-100%), and other white varieties (up to 30%) were produced. The rosé Vin Santo Occhio di Pernice is produced from Sangiovese (50-70%), Malvasia Nera (10-50%) and other red varieties (30%).
