The most important grape varieties
DOC for red and white wines in the Italian region Tuscany in Maremma . The area includes the municipalities of Arcidosso Campagnatico, Castel del Piano, Cinigiano (the eponymous district of Monte Cucco), Civitella Paganico Roccalbegna and Seggiano in the province of Grosseto. The Sangiovese varietal types (also known as Reserve) and Vermentino must be produced from at least 85% of each variety, the remaining 15% can be approved varieties of the same color. The Bianco is made from Trebbiano Toscano (60-100%) and other permitted white varieties (up to 40%). The Rosso (also known as Reserve) is produced from Sangiovese (60-100%) and other permitted red varieties (40%). Well-known producers are Fattoria di Montecucco, Folonari, Masi, Pertimali, Riecine, Salustri and Talenti.
