After the small town named local appellation. It is an enclave in the center of the area Touraine east of the city of Tours. The existing AC Mont Louis since 1938 was extended in 2002 to its present name. The area is north of the Loire and Cher in the south of the creek is limited, and the more famous Vouvray over. The vineyards cover 240 hectares of vines on flint soil, partly covered with sandy clay soils. The white wine is made from Chenin Blanc (Pineau de la Loire), pressed and vinified dry to sweet. The AC Montlouis-sur-Loire mousse applies to sparkling wines, the AC Montlouis-sur-Loire pétillant for sparkling wine. Well-known producers are Berger, Domaine de Bodet, Domaine des Liards, Thierry Chaput, Delétang, Domaine de la Milletière, Dominique Moyer and Frantz Saumon.
