The most important grape varieties
DOC area for sweet white wine in the Italian region of Tuscany . Sweet wines from Muscat grapes are produced here already with great success in the Middle Ages. The zone includes the entire municipality of Montalcino in the province of Siena, from the famous DOCG red wine Brunello di Montalcino comes. The wine (also known as sparkling) is produced from Moscato Bianco (85-100%), and any other permitted white varieties (up to 15%). The Vendemmia Tardiva (mutatis mutandis late harvest) is out already partially dried grapes on the vine, which are then subjected to further drying, with 15% alcohol by volume produced. Well-known producers are Caparzo, Castello Banfi , Col d'Orcia , La Poderina, Poggio Salvi and Tenuta Il Poggione.
