Muscat de Rivesaltes AOC

The appeal lies in the wine growing region Roussillon and is named after the small town north of Perpignan Rivesaltes lying. The vineyards with about 4,000 hectares of vineyards are planted with Muscat varieties, from which a sweet, fortified Vin doux naturel is generated. Allowed only two varieties are Muscat à Petits Grains (Muscat de Rivesaltes here) and Muscat of Alexandria (Muscat Romain). The wine is produced in various colors and styles. Well-known producers, the wine cooperative de CV Baixas, Boudau Domaine, Domaine Brial, Château de Caladroy, Frères Cazes, Corneilla Château, Domaine Forca Real, Château de Jau, Château de Nouvelles, Planeres Château, Domaine de Rozès, Domaine Sarda-Malet, Domaine Vaquer and Arnaud de Villeneuve. In the other three in the past Roussillon VDN appellations Banyuls , Maury and Rivesaltes Muscat de Rivesaltes, the AC may be used when the vineyards are planted with the winemaker to 100% muscat grapes.
