The most important grape varieties

Named after the city of the same appellation, with around 300 hectares of vineyards situated in the Côte de Nuits part of the Côte d'Or and includes vineyards in the commune-Premeaux Prissey. It is guaranteed that King Louis XIV was (1638-1715) recommended by his physician to Guy-Crescent Fagon the enjoyment of a ripe red wine from Nuits-Saint-Georges. The city is to Beaune in the second most important wine town of Burgundy . Similar to the Hospices de Beaune , there is also an annual Auctions with charitable purposes in March under the name "Hospices de Nuits". Also the administrative headquarters of the famous wine Brotherhood Brotherhood of the Chevaliers du Tastevin is located here. Almost exclusively red wines from Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot shares of Liebault be produced, the few white wines are made from Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. There are no Grands Crus, the most important of the 40 Premiers Crus vineyards with a total of 143 hectares are Argillières, de l'Arlot, Boudots, Corvées, Cailles Damodés, Forêts, Maréchale, Murger, Perdrix, Perrières, Porrets, Portes, Procès, Saint-Georges (exists since the year 1000) and Vaucrains. Well-known producers are Domaine de l'Arlot, Bichot (Domaine du Clos Frantin), Bouchard Pere et Fils , Jean Chauvenet, Dubois, Jadot , Alain Michelot, Gérard Mugneret, and Jean Tardy Remorquiet.
