The red variety (also Semenac 1-17-4) is a new breed between Alicante Bouschet (Alicante Henri Bouschet) x Cabernet Sauvignon . The crossing was made in 1950 in the Ukrainian Research Station for Viticulture in Odessa. It has a good resistance against both Mildew and frost .
