The most important grape varieties

DOC for red and white wine in the Italian region of Tuscany . The zone includes areas of the municipalities Abbadia San Salvatore, Buonconvento, Castiglione d'Orcia, Chianciano Terme, Montalcino, Pienza, Radicofani, San Casciano dei Bagni, San Giovanni d'Asso, San Quirico d'Orcia, Sartiano, Torrita di Siena and Trequanda along the eponymous river Orcia in the province of Siena. The Bianco is made from Trebbiano Toscano (50-100%) and possibly other permitted white varieties (50%). The Rosso (also called Novello) is produced from Sangiovese (60-100)%) and possibly other permitted red varieties (40%).
