The most important grape varieties
Greek appellation (grch. Patra) on the north coast of the island Peloponnese with a vineyard area of around 4,000 hectares, which is named after the port city on the Ionian Sea. Here are the indigenous varieties Mavrodaphne , Roditis and Sideritis And Muscat (Muscat Blanc) cultivated. There are four appellations. These are the dry OPAP white wine Patras (Roditis), the two different sweet, fortified OPE whites Muscat of Patras and Muscat of Rio (n), Patras (Muscat Blanc), and produced by Portweinart OPE wine Mavrodaphne of Patras (Mavrodaphne with korinthiaki), aged for up to twelve years in the barrel. Well-known producers are Achaia Clauss , Antonopoulos, Katogi Strofilia , Kourtakis and Parparoussis .
