DOC (also briefly Pentro) for dry reds, rosé and white wines in the Italian region of Molise . The name derives from the ancient Pentro tribe from the Pentrians who once lived in this area. The area includes the municipalities of Agnone, Belmonte del Sannio, Castelverrino, Colli a Volturno, Fornelli, Isernia, Longano, Macchia d'Isernia, Montaquila, Monteroduni, Pesche, Pietrabbondante, Poggio Sannita, Pozzilli, and Sant'Agapito Venafro in the province of Isernia . The vineyards are located in sunny hillside vineyards in a maximum of 500 to 600 meters above sea level. Rosso and Rosato are pressed from Montepulciano and Sangiovese (45-55% each), as well as any additives other authorized red varieties (up to 10%). The Bianco is made from Trebbiano Toscano (60-70%), Bombino Bianco (30-40%), and other permitted white varieties (up to 10%).
