Treppchen
Single location in the village earth (Bernkastel area) in the German wine-growing area Moselle . Centuries ago, the eponymous stone steps were built to reach the vineyard work the vines on the steep terraces or better at all. Here was cultivated in Roman times, wine, which is proved in 1998 by the middle of the vineyard and found partially excavated winepress. The brick plant in the size of 10 x 14 meters with several chambers built in the middle of the second century, and thus the oldest known Roman wine press is north of the Alps. The south-facing vineyards at 120 to 220 meters above sea level with 50 to 65% slope comprise 37 hectares of vineyards on Devon slate blue-gray-weathered soils with high stone content. This is mainly cultivated varieties Riesling.
