The appellation of around 40 hectares is an enclave within the AC Coteaux du Layon in the wine growing region Loire . The name is derived from the "top quartile" (fourth) round Chaume in the town of Rochefort-sur-Loire. In ancient times, kept the feudal lord using the proceeds of this district.
