Rate Wines

Again and again we read of wine reviews. A wine for example, has 15 out of 20 points. Is that good or not? The question can be answered not. One has to know, which has used marking scheme of the wine tasters, and even then there are still differences between the individual testers.

International is becoming a common thing is to use a 100-point system. This starts at 50 or 60, often only at 70 points and goes up to 100 points for a "perfect" wine. However, while a comparison of scores between 100-point system is not possible with each other. Many publications (especially in Germany) use a very generous 100-point system.

In the wine tasters evaluate our leaders after a rigorous, sophisticated 100-point system. The participants in the Wein-Plus Forum have even agreed on a common 20-point system, now there is also increasingly a 100-point system used.

This scheme is based on an evaluation scheme of the journal VINARIA and was added or modified.

Only one request: If you in the future someone asks "How was the wine?" then please do not reply with "15.5 points," but to describe the wine. Points can not taste that is.

An assessment is only possible objective assessment of the quality of a wine. This does not necessarily reflect the level of enjoyment that you have to drink this wine in a particular situation (food, temperature, environment, personal mood, etc.). Take a very young, tannic red wine, for example with very high quality. This is probably getting a very high score for quality; enjoy it but certainly not ready.
