DOCG for dry red, white and sparkling wine in the Italian region Piedmont . The DOCG classification in 2004. Named for the same landscape in the Roero area includes mountains some 700 hectares of vineyards on left bank of the river Tanaro in communities Baldissero d'Alba, Castagnito, Castellinaldo Govone Guarene, Magliano Alfieri assembly, Montaldo Roero Monteu Roero Monticello d'Alba, Pocapaglia, Priocca, Santa Vittoria d'Alba, Roero and Santo Stefano Sommariva Perno in the province of Cuneo.
The Roero wine (Rosso) is made of Nebbiolo (95-98%), Arneis (2-5%), and other permitted red varieties (up to 3%) grapes. The minimum alcohol content is 12.5% vol. He must mature at least 20 months, including six months in oak barrels. At 32 months of maturation (including six months in oak barrels) he may reserve call. The white Roero Arneis (Bianco) is 100% authentic from the Arneis pressed, the minimum alcohol content of 11% vol. The Roero Arneis Spumante must be at least 11.5% vol. Well-known producers are Carretta, Deltetto, Fontanafredda, Funtanin, Bruno Giacosa , Marchesi di Barolo, Malvira, Marsaglia, Mauro Sebaste, Montaribaldi, Angelo Negro & Figli Prunotto Michele Taliano, Terre da Vino and Vielmin.
