The most important grape varieties
Named after the eponymous province growing area is on 461 hectares of Hessian Mountain Road the second smallest in Germany . The legendary story of the refined wine that goes back to Bishop Benno of Meissen (1010-1106), can not be proven through documentary evidence. Well-known producers are Hoflößnitz , Judge Vincent , Castle Proschwitz , Wackerbarth and Zimmerling . The proportion of red wines has increased according to the national trend over the last decade from 13% to 19%. There are many new varieties tested. A special feature here is the only grape variety Goldriesling (1) cultivated. The Blend status 2009 (0 = less than 0.5 ha):
