This small appellation is an enclave in the large area Bergerac wine region in Southwest France . Since the Middle Ages was the French Benedictine monk and poet Francois Rabelais (1494-1553) in his famous book "Gargantua and Pantugruel" the main character Pantagruel praise this wine. The vineyards cover 100 hectares. The lovely and sweet white wine is blended developed from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. Well-known producers are Chateau Court-les-courage, and Domaine de Château de Miaudoux Richard.
