The most important grape varieties
DOC for dry rosé and red wine in the Italian region Calabria . The area includes the municipalities of Aiello Calabro, Altilia, Amantea, Belsito, Carpanzano, Cleto, Grimaldi, Malito, Marzi, Pedivigliano, Rogliano, Santo Stefano di Rogliano and Serra d'Aiello in the province of Cosenza, and the municipalities Conflenti, Martirano, Martirano Lombardo, Motta Santa Lucia, Nocera Tirinese, San Mango d'Aquino in the province of Catanzaro. The vineyards are located in the valley of the eponymous river Savuto and on the Tyrrhenian coast in sometimes very steep, mountainous locations. Rosso and Rosato are from Gaglioppo (35-45%), in any use of Greco Nero, Nerello Cappuccio, Magliocco Canino and Sangiovese (30-40%), and eventually the white varieties Malvasia Bianca Lunga and / or pecorino (up to 25%) blended. With 12.5% alcohol content and two years of aging may be the Rosso Superiore call.
