The castle is located in the town of Stetten in the Lower Austrian wine region wine district . The site was mentioned 1168th The vaulted basement with a spacious press house dates back to 1670. Here are the only two, symmetrically arranged baroque-type presses in Austria. They were built in 1698 by the family Abensperg-Traun in gratitude for that in the second Turkish siege of Vienna in 1683, the castle from the invading Turkish troops could not be taken. Each press of the mighty trees is about 10 feet long and an estimated 2800 kg heavy. The presses were in use until 1910. After the heavy losses after the end of World War II, the castle was the family-Traun Abensperg reset completely restored and is now the residence of the family Goess. In 2000 took over the family winery Stettener Pfaffl novel management of the vineyards. These include nine acres of vines in the vineyard located near the castle high on deep loess soil field. They are planted with the varieties Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc and St. Laurent. The vineyards are dauerbegrünt. It is entirely a manual reading. The processing of the grapes takes place according to the highest quality standards in our own cellar of the winery Pfaffl. Here are the wines pressed carefully temperature-controlled fermentation and extended classically typical of the variety in large wooden barrels. The premium wines include Weinviertel DAC (Grüner Veltliner), St. Laurent and Pinot Blanc.
