This indication was approved in the German area April 2004 exclusively for table wine. The area is located 100 kilometers north of Berlin in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and comprised 3.7 hectares near the town of Rattey (3.5 ha) and in Neubrandenburg (0.2 ha) .. By August 2009 became effective EU wine market organization, the term table wine was forbidden, and thus the area designation obsolete. The wine is now produced as a "wine country of Mecklenburg."
